Essay 2

                                                                       New Experience

In my community, 70% of people do not have enough information about all the fish types because our city is not coastal city. However, there are 3 kind of types are popular in my country such as spotted grouper, Jing shrimp, and swimming crad. In fact, I had never been to aquarium before in my whole life. It was a new thing for me, something I have never experienced before. I was exiting and the weather was wonderful. Also, when we arrived there, we waited 1 hour in line. After that, our professor gave us some works to do. I knew it was going to be a good day because there are many exhibits there. For example, the first exhibit was the ocean, the second exhibit was the great lakes, and the third exhibit was Red- bellied piranha.  

The first exhibit was the ocean. There are a lot of kinds of fish there. First, Moonlighter is a species of sea chub endemic to Southern Australia, we can be found on rocky reefs to depths of 120m (390 ft.). in addition, this kind of fish has two colors such as black and white, so it is easy to differentiate them. Also, the other kind of this type was Silver Sweep. It is a species of sea chub native to the Southwestern Pacific Ocean from Australia to New Zealand. They are found on coastal reefs at depths down to 30m (98ft) and we can be found this kind in the brackish of estuaries. This species can reach a length of 30cm (12in).

                The second exhibit was the great lakes. One of the most important kinds of this part was Yellow bass; it is a species of temperate bass native to the South and Midwestern United States. However, we can be found this kind in Caddo Lake, Lake Winnipesaukee, and Lake Wylie. Then, my classmates and I went to see other kind of the great lakes was Alligator snapping turtle. It is one of the heaviest freshwater turtles in the world, and this kind found in the Southeastern United States. Alliggator snappers can live between 50 to 100 years old .

 

                The third exhibit was Red- bellied piranha; it is kind of Piranha where lives in South America. This kind found in Amazon River Basin. we can differentiate them because they shine, Also, they are sometimes guard the eggs after fertilization until the eggs are hatched. Finally, the most amazing thing was the Bigtooth River Stingray. it is kind of Freshwater Stingray, and I liked this kind because they have amazing colors which are black and yellow that can make them more attractive.   

            In conclusion, it was an amazing day, and I saw and discovered new fish types that I had never heard of them before such as Moonlighter, Silver sweep, Yellow bass, Alligator snapping turtle, Red-bellied piranha, and Bigtooth. In fact, this experience will open window in my mind to discover new kind of fish.
